Block B: B7 – Building Effective Relationships

Effective relationships have a profound effect on workplace culture and building the right relationships provides a platform for a more positive and engaging place to work. Through this session participants will gain an understanding of the ingredients that lead to successful relationships. The differences between transactional and mutually beneficial relationships will be identified and the consequences of such relationships to the workplace are outlined. Learn the behaviours that aid individuals in creating the foundation for effective relationships and maintaining those connections.

Block E: E4 – Respect in the Workplace:  Ensuring Compliance

Harassment of any kind has no place in the workplace. As an employer, you are legally obligated to ensure the work environment is free from any workplace harassment or workplace sexual harassment. With Bill 132 taking effect September 8, 2016, it is important to understand the expanded definition of harassment along with the key changes under the legislation. Proper policies and training must be in place to protect your employees and your organization against potential claims. This session will provide an overview of your duties and obligations under Bill 132 and what this new legislation means for you as an employer.

Block F: F4 – Respect in the Workplace: Best Practices in Conducting Effective Workplace Investigations

This session will provide practical guidelines for conducting workplace investigations as well as highlighting the importance of conducting a comprehensive investigation in today’s challenging work environment. Given the legislative changes, new technology and social media enhancements, and the increasing level of employee sophistication, managers need to be fully equipped to carry out workplace investigations pertaining to harassment, bullying as well as workplace violence.
