Bill 148, The Fair Workplaces, Better Jobs Act, 2017 was passed on November 27, 2017. This new legislation means significant changes to Ontario’s Employment Law landscape. A number of the changes came into effect on January 1, 2018.
The clock is ticking… what steps has your organization taken to prepare for this new legislation?
This new legislation impacts all levels of the organization, especially Controllers who are often responsible for policy and procedure compliance, payroll processes and ongoing maintenance of HR practices. The passing of Bill 148 means Controllers now face new cost and compliance challenges, and must act quickly to review and amend current policies to meet the new requirements.
Despite the predominant focus on the significant increases to minimum wage, Bill 148 also proposes a number of other equally significant changes that could pose challenges for your company.
Through this webinar, we will break down Bill 148 and provide valuable information on how the changes to the Employment Standards Act, 2000 (ESA), Labour Relations Act and The Occupational Health and Safety Act will impact your organization. Controllers will learn practical approaches to help your organization proactively implement compliance strategies to effectively manage the ripple effects of this legislation.
What you will learn:
- Understand the most substantial changes that have been imposed by Bill 148
- Understand the practical implications that these changes will have on organizations across Ontario
- Learn how to prepare your organization to effectively manage these changes as well as your bottom line
